Make Me A Servant

God has more for my life than I can even imagine.
My plans are so meaningless in comparison.
Maybe I can share or explain what God has done for me in a way that makes sense.
Too much anymore doesn't.

Get into the habit of saying, ‘Speak, Lord,’ and life will become a romance.

Hallelujah, What A Savior! - Ascend The Hill

“Man of Sorrows!” what a name
For the Son of God, who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
In my place condemned He stood;
Sealed my pardon with His blood.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Guilty, vile, and helpless we;
Spotless Lamb of God was He;
“Full atonement!” can it be?
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Lifted up was He to die;
“It is finished!” was His cry;
Now in Heav’n exalted high.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

When He comes, our glorious King,
All His ransomed home to bring,
Then anew His song we’ll sing:
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Psalm 18

This is an excerpt from Psalm 18 that really stood out to me. I hope that it touches your heart as well and maybe you can identify with these words. It’s verses 16-24, 28-32, and 46-49 and it comes from The Message translation.

But me he caught - reached all the way from sky to sea; he pulled me out of that ocean of hate, that enemy chaos, the void in which I was drowning. They hit me when I was down, but God stuck by me. He stood me up on a wide-open field; I stood there saved - surprised to be loved!
God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before him. When I got my act together, he gave me a fresh start. Now I’m alert to God’s ways; I don’t take God for granted. Every day I review the ways he works; I try not to miss a trick. I feel put back together, and I’m watching my step. God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.

Suddenly, God, you floodlight my life; I’m blazing with glory, God’s glory! I smash the bands of marauders, I vault the highest fences.
What a God! His road stretches straight and smooth. Every God-direction is road-tested. Everyone who runs toward him makes it.

Is there any god like God? Are we not at bedrock? Is not this the God who armed me, then aimed me in the right direction?

Live, God! Blessings from my Rock, my free and freeing God, towering! This God set things right for me and shut up the people who talked back. He rescued me from enemy anger, he pulled me from the grip of upstarts, he saved me from the bullies.

That’s why I’m thanking you, God, all over the world. That’s why I’m singing songs that rhyme your name.

“Your Love Lifts Me Up” - Abandon

LoveLikeALight

Love is like a light.

As long as you hold it in your hands, it’s known that it has a purpose.  You may not know how to use it, or how it will be used specifically, but you know what it’s for.  However, as long as it’s not actually being put to use, it remains dim, unlit, and lifeless.  It remains held or stored in a cabinet, not until you think that it’s most appropriate to be used, but until another light goes out and it has to be used.  Use it or don’t see.  Simple as that.

Even then, at the point when it is necessary, when it is needed, when it has to be put to use, and you have enough intuition to know how to remove the old and install the new, it doesn’t do anything.  It remains unlit.  Now that it is fixed, you know what it is there for and so does anyone who has the eyes to see it in place.  However, as long as it is not on, it still is not serving it’s purpose.  It still remains useless.

You have recognized the need.  You have taken the light and placed it into the fixture because it had to be done in order for it to work and in order for you to see.  It is only at the point that you make the choice on your own to flip the switch that the light turns on and the room is illuminated.  Its light may go outside through a window and light up a hallway or another room, simply through its own brilliance.

Love is like a light.  It is not going to serve it’s purpose without being installed to the source.  It is not simply a noun.  It is not simply an emotion.  True love is the demonstration of genuine, sincere, heartfelt emotion.  It is fed from sometimes an unknown source.  You might not know how it all works, but you know as long as it is getting power from the source, all you have to do is flip the switch.  Love is an action.  Love is a choice.

I am what You make of me. God, I’m so undeserving. Oh, praise You! You deserve all the glory forever and ever!
